1. Introduction
This website, kasunchanuka.com (the "website"), is the personal site of Kasun Chanuka Fernando, an individual based in Colombo, Sri Lanka ("I", "me"). It's where I share my work, writing and profiles.
This policy explains what personal data is involved when you visit the website, why, and what rights you have. The short version: no cookies, no ads, no trackers, and nothing that identifies you. I only count anonymous page views.
2. Information involved
2.1 Information you give me
The website has no forms, accounts or newsletter. If you contact me through a linked profile (such as X or LinkedIn), I'll see whatever you choose to send, like your name and message, through that platform.
2.2 Information collected automatically
When you load a page, the hosting provider processes standard technical data needed to deliver it: your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, and the time. I don't use it to identify or profile you.
2.3 Anonymous analytics
I use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It records the page, the referring site, and your country, browser, operating system and device type, in aggregate. It sets no cookies and doesn't build a profile of you; according to Vercel, visitors are told apart only by a short-lived hash that resets every day, so you can't be followed across days or other sites.
2.4 Information stored on your device
Two small preferences are saved in your own browser and never sent to me (see section 5).
3. How it's used
- To deliver the website to you and keep it secure and working.
- To see, in aggregate, which pages people read, so I know what to write more of.
- To reply if you contact me.
- To remember your theme and keep the cursor steady between pages.
I don't sell, rent or share personal data for marketing, and I don't show ads.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy, which applies when you use it.
6. How long data is kept
I don't keep a database of visitors. Hosting logs and anonymous analytics are kept by Vercel for a limited period under their policy. Messages you send me stay on the platform you used until you or I delete them.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act (No. 9 of 2022), the EU and UK GDPR, or California's CCPA may give you the right to:
- ask what personal data I hold about you,
- ask me to correct or delete it,
- object to or restrict how it's used.
Since I don't collect personal data through the website, there's usually nothing to return, but you're always welcome to ask (see section 10).
8. Children
The website isn't aimed at children, and I don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
9. Changes to this policy
If the website ever starts collecting more data, for example through a contact form, I'll update this page before that happens and change the "Last updated" date above.
